There’s a point where Meryl Streep’s character says something to the effect of, “Do you have any idea how many ‘end of the world’ meetings I’ve had?” And really that’s only a slight exaggeration. I’ve seen the way world leaders can actually become inured, to a certain degree.
And actually I thought that scene was, perhaps depressingly enough, relatively realistic.
